Wendy's Priorities

Restoring trust and accountability

Troubling and unacceptable trends in our community have eroded public trust and confidence. Transparency is the absolute cornerstone of public trust and essential to a good relationship between officials and the citizens they serve. I pledge to engage and communicate proactively and openly with the public and uphold our values of honesty and integrity. I pledge to support our local community, government, and authorities, especially our police and criminal justice systems.

Creating opportunities for Hoosiers

I have spent my career successfully collaborating with state, regional, and
local governments in leading organizations in developing economic goals
and strategies geared toward long-term outcomes. I have facilitated
partnerships and initiatives with local non-profits and businesses that
support our district. Since 2012, I have helped establish growth
opportunities in our region that have led to over 120 corporations expanding
to Southern Indiana, which have garnered 12,000 jobs for our citizens. I will continue this mission as State Representative and seek solid, long-term job opportunities for our communities.. It is the State Representative’s job to review the proposed state budget and vote to accept or propose amendments. I will ensure that our community will receive as much funding as possible and gear it towards our values.

Education and workforce development

I believe and understand that our community thrives when individuals who
wish to improve their earning potential have options to do so. Our
workforce must have access to skill development, training, industry-
related certifications and licensure, and higher education to achieve their
goals and reach their potential. In turn, our community has a better
foundation for economic growth and stability. As your State
Representative, I pledge to write, propose, and support policies that meet
these ends not just for our community, but the state as a whole.

Childcare

Indiana ranks at the very bottom of the nation in the number licensed childcare
facilities per capita. Being 50th is unacceptable. The families in our community are spending more for childcare than ever before, and childcare providers are struggling to find enough skilled workers to keep their facilities staffed. Childcare is essential for our families to maintain employment. When the private sector does not meet the needs of our working families because economic conditions are difficult, it is imperative that the public sector identify and implement solutions. I pledge to advocate for accessible, affordable, high quality childcare in our communities through any available childcare grants and tax-credits.
